Anyone know if the field kit is variable speed? Can't find many details on the field kit. Would like the Ken onion edition but it's more expensive.

Any info is appreciated!

I think you're combining two separate things. There's the Worksharp ken onion edition which is electric motor driven and, yes, it's variable speed. There's a worksharp field sharpener which is a manual set up of diamond and ceramic hones you can take to the field.

I suppose the field kit is also variable speed. The faster you move your arm, the faster the sharpening goes.

Well they do have an electric work shop field edition for 90 vs 120ish

Lol on the arm comment

It is not variable speed. My .02, the added cost of the KO edition is worth it... variable speed, wider belts, better angle guide,... overall a better device.

Between the two motorized versions, I go behind the ken onion edition also.

And if truth be told, the ken onion with the blade grinder attachment is the logical set up that they should have gone straight to, if they had the consumer in mind.
