I just bought a new Boy Scout knife. It is a Kershaw Vapor without a thumb stud and with the Boy Scout logo on the blade. I love the knife, but I really like the one handed action that a thumb stud gives.
The blade has an indentation near where the thumb stud would go. Is this where I could install a thumb stud and what would be the easiest way to do that? I love the knife, but I really like the one handed action that a thumb stud gives.

Thanks

This is a Vapor that is specific for the Boy Scouts. The Boy Scouts are not big on thumb studs or one hand openers, so we altered the Vapor to meet their requests.

BSA has many "politically correct" views; hence the ban on fb's. While I agree that the idea of the oh opener goes a little towards the wrong direction for a "camping" blade" I'm sure that a lot of us scouters (and some scouts) carry more tatical looking knives than BP intended. It is just such a usefull and habit-forming tool.
It is possible to attach a thumb stud to most any knife blade, Smoky Mt used to carry a "one hand bandit" that just tightened to the blade with a hex wrench. Check out thier web site and see.
Be Prepared
