Hey guys

I think i have found the knife for me... we have a 4 inch closed law in NC... an the leek is 4 inches closed!

I cant find any information on kershaws website concerning this knife... but most everybody has them in the catalogs?

Where are they made? USA I hope! Any reviews I can read through?

Thanks

Thanks... fellow tar heel :D

Is it the leek or the chive that they sell at wally world? I dont remember :(

It's the Chive that sold at Walmart and may not be available at all locations. ;)

The Leek is awesome, go for it.

The Leek is definatly worth the money. My wife and I both have a Rainbow and I think I will have to pick one up with their new finish as well.:)

Just got the rainbow leek, very nice knife. The assisted opening is fast off the draw. Quality is alot higher than I thought it would be, feels real good in my hand. So impressed with Kershaw I ordered a blackout. Buy it, in fact get two, their cheap!

The Leek is perfect for EDC, and as the type of knife it is, it's almost perfect PERIOD (I'm a fussy SOB)

The blade is not fantastic in terms of edge holding (Its a 420 blade - what can you expect for $60.00) and the rainbow coating isn't that durable.

Buy one though - you wont regret it.

The Leek blade steel is actually 440A, and is really pretty sharp, and holds a pretty good edge. Same steel they use in the Whirlwind. I, and the wife both have one, and have both cut ourselves with them when we first got them. Sharp right out of the box, and unaware at the time how sharp they can be. Have been surprised how well they hold an edge, and have only sharpened them a couple of times in the last 9 months with general untility cutting that we do with them as we keep them by our chairs in the living room, and so they cut things like envelops, string, tape, cardboard, etc.
Handy knife, and fits the hand perfectly, and like the wharencliffe style blade.
Just my .02 cents rounded off to a buck :)

Larry

Agreed! The Leek is a awesome knife! They are in several varations and we have sold a good quanity of them all! Love it much better than the chive, the chive is just to small for myself! Glad to see another NC'er! Paul

... Hows the blade lockup?

I can take a little of a wiggle, but i'd like to KNOW its not gonna close!

Thanks for the comments guys

P.S. Hey fellow Car heel... Err Tar Heel, how are ya man? :)

Thanks for the link!

Is the chive also well built? I may pickup one of them first... less likely to scare sheeple... and may be the one at walmart! Does it have the speed safe thing?

Thanks
:D

The Chive came before the Leek and it may have won some Blade Show award in 2000 (as did the Leek in 2001).

It has Speed-Safe assisted opening and is very well built - in fact it's quite a marvel of precision engineering.

For a version that's both discreet and has a WoW! factor get the Black Chive version - which is boron oxide coated but finish is like a slightly brownish tinted black chrome - I think it looks real cool.

However for me the Leek is right sized, see -

The regular bead-blast finished one is my at home EDC - but there is also the stunning Rainbow Leek....
