I was at the Big Buck Expo today in Lakeland, FL and saw some of the coolest knives I have ever seen. One of the vendors has a stag knife with an obsidian blade. I know obsidian is a ridiculous thought for use on a production knife, but I was thinking a Ken Onion G10 Offset with obsidian blade. WOW !

Hmmmm. Wonder what the Rockwell hardness is on obsidian? 80? 90? The mineral hardness is 5-5.5, FWTW.

I know it is insane to even think of it due to the hardness, but it was good enough for the Aztecs to cut hearts out- I imagine it would be good enough slice open a deer.
Just a wild thought. Anything like that would be nothing more than a show piece.

Here's a couple at A.G. Russell's. I have one like this, and it is very cool. It's obviously a showpiece, although I have cut paper with it.

Jerry Busse has made them in O1 and made them look like obsidian:

I am sure Ken could pull off a similar magic trick.
