Although I have a WickedEdge Pro-Pack 2, I also have been using the KO WS with the blade grinding attachment more & more lately. It is 100 times faster than working through all the grits on the Wicked Edge and the results I am getting are absolutely amazing, especially considering how fast/easy it is.

The one thing I have been kinda scared to try is sharpening a Commander with its wicked recurved blade. Tonight, I decided to give it a try on a Super Commander. It worked super, this is not a very good pic but the results where a mirror polished blade that will push-cut pages from a phonebook:

I spent maybe 10 minutes tops from beginning to end. This pic makes the tip look kinda funny, but it is fine & sharp as hell (the lighting must have caught the edge just right, the tip looks perfect when looking at it)

I have also done 3 Striders with it at 40 degrees inclusive, and they are ridiculously sharp now (just as sharp as any of my Emersons).

I have one too, I have had good results for the straight portion of the blade, but from where the curve starts to the tip I seem to have trouble. It is just not getting my knives nearly as sharp on that portion of the blade. I think I might be changing the angle when I rotate the blade. Anyone else have this problem? Just want to add, I'm not bashing the product, just trying to diagnose where the user error is coming from.

I'm debating on one, lol. Just scared I'll remove to much material too quick.

That's not a problem at all, with the speed adjustment you can slow it down real slow and use the fine grit belts unless it's really dull.

The blade grinding attachment works wonders on a recurve.

I got my brother one of these for Christmas this past year, he loves it (still have to get him into Emersons like my older brother and I)! Good to see that it works well on the chisel edge...I personally prefer narrow diamond stones.

I may have to borrow his!

I have been thinking about picking one up for a while. I used to love sharpening with my Japanese water stones, but my free time seems to be more and more limited. So a good quick method with good results sounds very appealing.

I use paper wheels. From dulled factory edge to shaving sharp & mirror polished in 2 minutes (less actually, but 2 minutes sounds good)!

By the way, the $99 blade grinding attachment is fantastic for sharpening blades without scratching the finish etc.

I bought it because of a post by Ken Onion saying how well it worked. That attachment uses wider belts and doesn't slide the blade through a set of guides that can scratch it. I also have two leather belts that work with it (although I didn't use them on the blade in the pic I posted).
