Folks,

I'm considering having a Kenny Rowe leather sheath made for my FBM (.310 black and blue mags). When I talked to him back in January, he said he'd need the knife. I was wondering if anyone had sent him one of these for a sheath yet and if so, do you think he'd be able to use it to do me a sheath or would he need my knife at the time the sheath is being made? I'm trying to avoid sending it, for a number of reasons. Hopefully some of the sheathmakers could weigh in on this.

Thanks,

GregB

He made a dangler for an FBM SE. I am not sure how thick those were, but I am sure they were around the LE and FFBM versions. I had to send the knife to him. It was a tight fit for my FFBM that I had which is now a WFBM at .297" thick (Ban). Fits perfect...

So they should have a pattern available unless they do not keep those kinds of measurements around.

I'll try and post a pic tonight!

He'll need a knife like it on hand. Call him and he'll let you know if he's got it.

Maybe someone here is planning to send one in.

edit- jeepnut has sent his FBMSE, like Phil said, maybe he still has the pattern. He should only need to know how much thicker it is.
Then again, I've never made a sheath.

Greg, make a photocopy of the actual knife, measure the thickness of the blade and take a strip of paper and wrap around the handle and measure the diameter if you want a strap and he can make it from that without sending the knife. I do it all the time. Ron.....

If it helps, I can attest to the fact that he does great work and also turns it around quickly.

My opinions are good on this sheath. A tight fit getting the buckle of the Maxpedition leg strap through, but other than that, no complaints. Solidly built and simple, just like I asked...
