I put this compact Kephart to use at work last week removing some insulation, figuring it would gain a little character and give me an excuse to keep working on the edge. Between cuts I set it down on a pipe no less than 3' from the pictured drain, and when moving some material managed to knock it slightly sideways and onto the floor. "Oh, shoot", I thought, imagining it would hit tip down on the concrete floor...but no, it hit square on the butt end of the handle, bounced a 360, and made a perfect swish straight into the drain. Just like that, it was gone. No other sound than a subtle bloop.

My first thought was, thank goodness I have a different one on order, and the second was when would I be replacing this one? The water was pretty murky (and I had a customer coming back any time to watch me set things up) so I went on with work.

The happy ending: I managed to retrieve it - with visions of the fire dept showing up to help me right myself while shoulder deep into the floor drain I carefully reached down. I was actually nearly to my shoulder when I felt the blade, tip and sharp side up (of course) wedged in the first elbow of the drain. Thanks to long, skinny arms, this one survived...
