I mentioned in this thread

that I ordered a copy of this DVD about Horace Kephart.

Finally got a chance to watch it.
I really enjoyed it.
It is, as 22 mentioned, about Kephart's life, etc.
There is no discussion about woodcraft or camping techniques
That said, it was very interesting to learn so much more about him, his life, and his family.
A quick review:
The video is very well done, very professional.
It was made as a collaborative effort by several of his grandchildren.
The music, artwork, etc. were done by grandchildren.
The video is narrated by another grandchild. I thought that was really nice; it is a testament to how much his family cares about his story and his legacy.
I enjoyed learning that he loved books and reading from when he was very young.
His account of weathering the 1896 St. Louis storm was very interesting.
He was also quite the marksman, apparently.
The video is very frank about his struggle with depression, alcoholism.
I did not realize how bad it got for him. And that he basically lost everything. Almost his life.
But also shows how his family was so supportive, and it was their love and support that helped him get through it.
And it sounds like it may have been his doctor that basically prescribed getting out in the woods for his mental health.
And that changed everything for him (and us, I guess).
Kephart's knife is featured in one section, and Joe Flowers makes two appearances to talk about his knife.
If you see it, stay tuned after the credits to see a time-lapse painting by one of his grandchildren.
I would be very happy to share this with anyone who would like to see it.
Just let me know and I can send it out to you.
Or I guess I could do an official pass-around (don't know much about setting one up, though, but I could learn), if there is interest.
