I can personally attest to John's Kepharts guys. Anyone who doesn't have one should consider this.
They are solid and a great woods knife!

I have a Scout I got off of the forums, and am thinking maybe I want a kephart instead.

Can anyone comment on the weight and handling difference? Thanks

Kephart will be lighter due to thinner stock and wood handle, and be able to hold in more grips due to handle shape.

Kephart is my go to knife usually. Out of all the ones I have I keep finding this one out with me in the woods most of all. Just fits the hand good and perfect blade length I feel.
Horace Kephart knew his stuff!

Mine in the woods.

Hi folks -

I love my JK Kephart - it has come in handy in the kitchen and I have taken it out in the woods a few times.

A great cutting tool with the stuff to take whatever you can throw at it!

best regards -

Stomper, that mahogany handle is a beauty! It makes me very tempted but, I am more interested in what kind of handle is on the Phoenix that you have ready for the customer right now! If it is not picked up, please let me know, and maybe send me a photo of it! Thanks!

Absolutely my pleasure! Your knives would be a bargain at twice the price! (Although please, I am not suggesting you go that route at this moment!)
Thanks again and I love the New Hiker!

Nice buy Dan.

You will love this Kephart. They are awesome woods knives. Just something about the feel and history to the design.

Hello Everyone, I just wanted to tell you that I received the Kepheart today and WOW! I have been using the New Hiker for the last week and would have told you that was the best knife for bushcraft I have ever handled, but handling this knife, I can't decide which one is more comfortable. I will tell you this Kepheart is 5/32 thick and when you see the "substantialness" of this knife, there isn't a task that I don't think it is up for. My second JK, and my second time being AMAZED!
Thanks John, amazing!

I am going to jump in here, and see if I have worked this thing out yet! John's Kepharts are the best thing since Doan's Pills! Ha! Ha! I am still amazed by it every time I get it in my hand! Here is a photo of mine with the Tulipwood handle for everyone that didn't get to see it at "The Gathering". I am hoping this photo comes out right, I'm holding my fingers crossed. Thanks mqqn! It actually turned out this time around! Later everybody!

Hi Tom -

Good job!

I did get to see your Keppie at the Gathering, and I was very fond of the tulipwood, it's a beauty!

I have used my Kephart quite a bit and it is a sweet little JK.

Thanks for the pic.

best regards -
