just found this picture of Kephart I hadn’t seen it before so I thought it might be of interest to others here.

unless you buy one of the old ones, the best modern copy is the one sold by the smokey mountain museum people

Thanks. I know about Kephart s books. This is a new book. I think. A biography about him also by the museum people. I’m still not sure where exactly that picture came from, but I think it has something to do with the new book. I was looking for “Uncovering Kephart” as the title and found the new book “Back of Beyond”. Maybe “Uncovering Kephart” was a working title?

The picture made me curious what the original sign said before it was edited. He is posed with the sign like it was significant. Probably just a park sign.

Haven’t heard of that title. Like you said, maybe a working title. I’ll flip back through Back of Beyond to if there is any mention of it. I’m about 2/3 through it. Good read!

I'm pretty interested in general in the book, but I think I know enough about his life to satisfy my curiosity.
