OK fellow knifeknuts, if you know what is a Kerambit, how do you think it'll fare against the La Griffe?

Anyway, Malaysia is a cool place -- there's plenty of kerambits with Buffalo Horn handle -- suppa doopa cheap and land of the GOLOK too!

Samo,
I would like A buffalo horn kerambit. Maybe we could work out A deal where I send you the money and you could get me one and ship it?

Is there where us Malaysian Knife knuts draw lots and the winner gets to go to the ABS School in Arkansas to learn how to beat up on steel, then come back and produce 'Ah Fatt Custom Knives Tactical Golok'?

You know, differential temper, multiple-quench, Moran-Edge, Micarta handled...

What's a kerambit? Any pictures? Description?

Anyway, it's never going to be kerambit against La Griffe: there are no dangerous weapons, only dangerous men. (Leave the women out of this! They beat us every time, anyway, even without the weapons!)

This is Kris Cutlery's kerambit and can be found at www.kriscutlery.com . Their version is spelled "korambit" and is larger than others I have seen: the blade on this one is 5 1/2" while most have a blade around 3" or so. Also, this one is double edged, which seems unusual.

You can see some more modern versions of the kerambit at www.szaboinc.com . Their "kerambit" model is kind of wierd. It's sort of like a double kerambit, but the second blade is very small.

I'm not real familiar with the use of a kerambit, but the basic idea is to wield it in reverse grip and stick a finger through the pommel ring.

No worries about the cost. Thanks for the post cerulean. The kerambits that are hand-ground here are nothing close to those made by Kris Cutlery. Basically, the kerambit is a traditional Malay weapon used mainly by women in the Malay Archipelago. It measures about 1.5" in total length and has an holed handle made from buffalo's horn. I guess the La Griffe is a Westernised version of the traditional Kerambit.

Hey Guys, I could not resist posting here. The Kerambit is usually help in the hand and the hole goes on to the index finger and the blade going downwards. Like a reverse claw. A very effective weapon. It can also be swung out of the hand while still anchored to the index finger for use as a gunting device. The La Griff is a great knife but it is not a Kerambit. You hold the knife with the index finger through the hole but you cannot swing it out to use in gunting. The La griff makes a great neck knife and great for emergency use. But the Kerambit is more effective in a fight. I think anyways. Hope this helps.

No Worries people! Hopefully in near future i'll be able to put up a little shop with Samo to churn out "Tactical specOps Kerambit" with g-10 handle and kydex sheath. Of course not forgetting fancy models with damascus blade, Horn handle and sheath....
