That's a mean looking knife.

Maybe I'm dumb, what's the hole on the butt end for? And what are the "gills" on the top of the blade for? I'm assuming, as a thumb grip? But they seem too deep to be just for finger traction.

The hole is for spinning it as practiced in certain martial arts applications. The " gills " as you call them are rippers and i would advise you to keep your fingers away from them unless you want to lose some flesh.

spinning? that must be cool. kind of like an extreme sport, you know, under the concept that you're mocking danger. spinning a sharp object around your fingers... kind of like climbing everest, or.. punching a bear in the face.

Kerambits are sweet! I can't wait to get one. I hope
Strider is setup at Blade West.

oh, I believe it.

Anyone know of any sites where they have kerambit "demos" media streaming?

I don't know of any web sites, but Creative concepts in NM has a Steve Tarani Kerambit tape.
Steve is absolutely awesome, and the tape is excellent.
Understand that the knife- like a gun- without training is useless.
The video will supplement training, but is not a substitute for it.
