The kerambit has been on the very top of my HI-to-buy list since I bumped into it searching the archives, but in the time that I've been on the forums consistently (since May, I think) I haven't seen one offered. Is there any chance that there will be more kerambits at some point? I've noticed that HI tends to go in phases where they sell a lot of one thing and then wait a while to sell more (like the current bolo bonanza we've been having). Any insight?

Second, has HI ever offered one in horn? I'd love to see the look of that! :D

Thanks in advance!

tin,
E-mail Yangdu and ask her if she has any available...That is how I got mine..lol

good luck!!!:)

Now that Kumar is back you might have a better chance. I remember there were a lot of people hungering for them back in jan & february but most of the kamis who had originally worked on them were no longer at the shop.

Kumar recently returned after an absence (due to illness?) and I believe he was one of the principle makers of the HI kerambits.

Just about every kerambit is made by Kumar. This is a good thing, as he really has the design down. I have probably a generation 2 or 3 kerambit, and it's just magical. I would email Yangdu and see what she has or is getting. They really are worth every penny.
They have been offered in just about every handle material that HI uses including horn, all types of wood, and antler. Personally, i would like to have a matched set in antler. Maybe make a tooled sheath for them:) That would be beautiful.

I love that chandan one of Steve's. There were at least a half-dozen of those, but I kept missing them. I wish I had kept one of mine that was in the first batch of 6 made. They had larger handle rings (too large really), but beautiful double fullers all the way back. The bolster was perfect. (What was I thinking?!)

The second and third gen models do not take the fullers back that far or that deep, and are I'm sure less labor intensive, but there are subtle differences. But they seem very well done. That first had rather undistiguished satisal wood, but that could have been easily fixed. I kept an antler and a horn one, and a "USA wood" one from Uncle that is a bit smaller than average.

I really want another one myself...

hmmm double shoulder rig for HI Kerambits...<~~~WOOHOO!!!

I don't know either. I've assumed a new wave would arrive some day. Like every thing else. Probably the Kerambit demand has to build up.

Steve, that pic of your's in chandan is actually what's pushed the Kerambit to the top of my list. I just can't get over it. Can't afford one right now (just backed the car up into a concrete pillar in an empty parking lot :o), but that's not going to stop me from buying one anyway! :D

Shhh! Don't tell anyone, but it sounds like Yangdu is getting some in soon! :foot:

Those Kermabits are wicked. I've lusted for one for quite a while too.

I looked back over the prices of DOTDs and they all seemed to fall from $70-85. Couple other observations in looking at all those posts (search "Kerambit" and there are a ton on the 4th page, btw): 1) HI doesn't do small. "Small" maybe, but not small :D 2) Have the handles gotten a more uniform curve with the blade over time? Compare this 'un (newer)
