Well I finished the Kris that I had asking around for input on. This being my first was quite a challenge and a lot of fun. I compared the forging & grinding of the blade to making a dozen small skinners and making the blades all blend together. The blade is a 30 layer from 1084 & 15N20 that I flipped 90 degrees so that the layers would follow the curvature of the blade. The handle & sheath are walnut with spacers of brass & 416 ( I etched the 416 to give it more of an antique look). The handle carving has no meaning what so ever but simply done in the style of some of the antique Kris handles that I have seen photos of.

There is a lot of religion/history involved in a Kris and from the research that I have done this style of Keris/Kris would be to promote the accomplishment of your goals. :) Since I am obviously not an authorized Empu, this knife would be considered a "Kris for souvenir".

That is cool Gary. I do bet that was fun. Great job. Wish I could see that in person. Thumbs up from me.

Thanks, Brion. I'm going to Ron Duncan's hammer-in this weekend. If you're going, I'll have it with me.

Very cool! You really captured the serpentine quality in the blade. It almost looks alive. Kind of gives me the willies.

Oh, that turned out awesome. I've done a few similar to that and also a full-sized sword. Quite a challenge and you pulled it off. Very nice.

Don't think I have seen a contemporary custom Kris prior to this and it certainly turned out really well.
It's got to feel good when stepping outside the box so successfully.

Thank you everyone. Sorry to be so tardy with this but was at a hammer-in last weekend and off line.
