I have to say that after buying a Issakki Jarvenpaa lapp puukko in carbon, a Issakki Jarvenpaa bark handle tradional puukko in carbon, a Helle Jegermester in sandvik, and a kero elk print puukko, I have to say I have found a winner!

It is by far the sharpest, and best made puuko that I have purchased, or seen!! It is the kero elk print puukko!!! from www.northerner.com

I had to wait for this one to be made when I ordered it (yes, they are hand made!), but it only took a little longer, than if I had ordered just a normal production puukko (about one week longer on the average for one handmade puukko).

This puukko is just beautiful! It has a nice curly birch handle, an antler pommel and brass and leather spacers. The sheath is nice, first rate! Heavy for a scandinavian sheath, Reindeer hide with an elk, and elk "foot prints" imprinted and it has the plastic liner to help keep the knife from cutting the sheath (which it needs the blade is sharp!). And its good looking too!

Now, on to the blade, it is carbon steel, it is about 9cm (3.5"). It has the nice black finish from forging still on the blade. The bevel is finished like on most scandinavian knives, with the exception of being polished! Now as anyone knows, scandinanavian knives are made to cut, they are built for it! But this one was realllyyyyy scary sharp  right out of the box (so to speak). I have to say that I was on a "quest" for a nice scandinavian knife that was nice looking and cut as well as its good looks, and this one fit the bill (in spades) :D !!! Now the finish was decent. Like most scandinavian knives they tend to pay more attention to the cutting ability, and its performance, rather than looks. This one is just like the average, with a little bit more attention to its overall asthetics. I would really recommend this knife to anyone who wants a nice puukko that will cut, and keep cutting! And is a pleasure to look at and carry on hikes/camping, etc.!! :)

Oh, and by the way,did I mention it was only $41.90, plus a small shipping fee (all the way from sweden) ;) ?

Heres a link to it (in case it does not come right up, go to kero knives, page 2):

Thanks for the link Rev! I love Norwegian knives (as I know you do also) and it's great to read a review of one that I hadn't see yet. Use it in good health.

It is a good deal! Funny thing is, if you buy that same knife, or one just like it from sites here in the states you will pay up to $200.00 for the same knife!!! Ive taken it on a couple short winter hikes and it has been perfect for this type of weather, it excels!. It makes sense that these knives are made fror the draw cut, versus the push. Gloved hands do become kind of tricky!!
