I have a Kershaw 1007 that I bought before 1986, serial # 14810. However while researching the knife I found all listings have a "Trooper" stamping on them and mine does not. Which is more desirable? What would be a good price to sell it for?

WHAT IS MY KNIFE / GADGET / SPATULA / TUNING FORK WORTH ?!?!?!?!

In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Accordingly, registered and basic members may not start or post in threads with such requests whether with the intent to sell or for informational purposes only. This rule applies throughout the site.

In other words, without a paid Gold membership, you don't get to ask about sale values. Too many people abused this question to hint they had a knife for sale, which you need that membership for.

well I came here for the specific reason of finding out why it is different and what it is worth so I could sell it elsewhere. Since that is not allowed please close my account entirely because I cannot afford to pay for 1 question or I wouldn't be selling the knife.

Whole we can't tell you value, we can give you info on the knife, like what is so special about it, and why it is or isn't rare. The info we give is really only helpful for personal value. It still gives you more info.

Check out some ended auctions on Ebay they give a good idea of what a item is worth.

I believe you can close your own account.

The reason they did this is a valid one to be honest. People contribute to the community both time and money. Unless you become a paid member you can't sell here. Fair enough, right? Well, we were and still are having problems with people trying to get around the rules by asking the price and contacting people who seem to show interest in the knife, or get contacted by folks who want the knife.

Every day people log on doing exactly what you are doing. It's not only bandwidth but it's also time moderating these. In addition, when a person does go through the process and pays for a membership he/she typically will be less likely to be in it to rip off other forumites. If the member is a bad guy he won't get away with it for long. The mods, as well as other members see to that.

I consider the policy in place to be a good one and am glad it's there and enforced. From a different perspective you might come to see that it's beneficial to the community .
