Hi, new here. I see that most of the people have very valid opinions on almost every knife, but I can't seem to find anything on the Kershaw 1070 with AUS8A Steel. I just bought one and was wondering if anyone had any opinions about the knife, or steel. I have tested it through various camping situations and the shape of the blade and handle seems to make carving remarkably easy. I prefer knives with full tangs and this is one of them. Just not familiar with the steel grade. Also does anyone know where I can find a replacement handle, I hate this camo. Thanks

Welcome to Blade Forums! :)

AUS8 is a decent Japanese stainless steel somewhere in between 440B and 440C. AUS8 is usually my "minimum" steel that I consider along with Buck's 420HC. As is always said here, with all steels, it ain't the steel per se that you need to consider, it's the heat treat.

ok, thanks that was what I wanted to know. So how do I find out about how it was heat treated? I would guess that kershaw does it right, also I would guess that ken onion would put his name on it if it was crap. Anyone have resources to learn about heat treating techniques?
