Arrived in the mail today... I'd been wanting one for some time and just happened to find one browsing on Collectorknives.net.

You can see that the animals approve.

hey daddyo,
nice score. these are getting harder to find all the time. one of my all-time favorites. had too many to count and managed to swap, sell all of them. always thought they'd be around forever. live and learn.

You can't post a pic like that and then not explain the animals!

It's a Noah's Ark set that my wife bought many years ago and sits on top of the old upright piano in the den. It's actually much larger than it looks in the photos.

Lots of fun to dust around...

Yours looks cleaner than mine. I'm getting a couple of corrosion spots on my blade, for some reason, but they come off easy with steel wool and then I wipe with mineral oil.

Are those the white spots in the photo? Mineral oil is what I use on all mine as well.

Great little knife. I've been using mine in the garden mostly for cutting and digging out weeds. In spite of all of the dirt and grit, I haven't had to sharpen it in the past 12 months.

Have a question for you guys. Notice how the sides of my scales are polished not black. this doesnt look like something someone did themselves its very symmetrical or scratched like it was sanded and the black isnt smudged at the edges or anything . Did they make a 1630 that looked like this ?

I just check my 1635 and the edges were not polished. It looks like the original owner of your might've modded the scales. Look at the pic in post #08; the scale is black all the way around.

hmmmm... I work in a machine shop and as uniform as this is done must have been a really skilled modder lol. Ok guess I can live with that looks great anyway

This one has the speedsafe switch would that have anything to do with it ?

Congratulations on your find.

A suggestion about the switch: I left mine on manual when not in use. That seems to have done something to the mechanism and now it won't open fully when using A/O.

It works fine on manual.

You might want to reverse my procedure and leave it on A/O when not in use, if assisted is important to you.
