Hey folks,

In the last year or so i got the bug and have begun ending up with... more knives than any one person probably needs access to. Before that, for years; i'd been carrying a 1770 for work and general use. Loved it, the cam mechanism is so fast, and made it relatively unique. The only problem i ran into was the clip screws would work themselves loose... and eventually got lost.

I have the clip. i have the knife. i miss carrying the little guy, and the clip made that easier to do.

Wrote to kershaw, they said they couldn't send me any, it's not in production anymore. i wrote back and asked if they could give me the part number, or size/specs on the screws so i could try find ones that would work aftermarket. they said no... irritating. i've tried pocket clip screws from a handful of other knives, and they've been too thin, wide, or long to work.

So blade-verse, has anybody else ever found screws that would work for the clip on the 1770? i'd happily order a couple likely suspects from one of those knifemaker websites, if i could narrow it down a little more than "all torx screws"

I'm not an expert on measuring screws... so don't know if this will help. But I have one so pulled one out and measured it... it's .220" or 5.60mm long, and the outer thread diameter is .098" or 2.50mm.

Hope that'll help narrow it down?

based on the diameter(along with google, a tape measure, and some guessing) i think i hopefully narrowed it down... ordered some screws, will report back. thanks for the assist, sir.

Cool.

In hindsight, the length I gave was the entire screw... probably should have measured just the thread portion.

Hope it works out.

Thanks! i doubled down assuming i had the right size, and got 2 types of screws in 2 lengths each. (based on thread diameter, it was the only one that looked close) if there's anybody else out there with this question; the answer ended up being a 3x48 in the 3/16" length, 'button socket head screws' . i got mine from albanycountyfasteners.com. they ended up not being torx, but a hex size- which was good, i think the original screws i had weren't exactly the size they were intended to be, so i ended up stripping them out over time, etc. those suckers are blue loctite'd in there solid, and just in case, i have the spare set i ordered.

thanks again, been carrying the little guy all week. feels good.
