What do you guys know about these?

From what I have read, this discontinued model was limited to 600 pieces. VG-10 steel, black micarta scales, and made in Japan.

Is it true these were made by Moki?

Anybody have one, and what do you think of them? Do they fit nicely in a jeans pocket? Good EDC? Thanks for the info.

I think its one fine knife thats what I think! I've owned one, never should have traded it. I've had some others here in my hands to examine a time or two and each one was flawless perfection and very consistent; so close you'd be hard pressed to tell one from the other. It comes with a wonderful sheath, has a fit and finish on par with the best knives you can buy and its as stunning to use as it is to look at. Its traditional at its finest.

I thought it was a tad big for pocket carry but I know people that do carry knives that large or larger in their pockets. Its more of a back pocket to me but the sheath it comes with is nice enough to want to carry it. For the money its a great buy. Really its a very nicely done folder.

I found one of these, ordered it, and it arrived today.

VERY nice knife! Great FF, sharp, nice micarta scales. Will definitely see some pocket time!

Cell phone pics - not the greatest.

BTW, this knife arrived scary sharp too.

The Kershaw Gent is one of my all time favorite "Tactical meets Gentlemans" knife. Large enough for a full grip, small enough for pocket/back pocket carry. F&F is amazing as are most of Moki`s products.

Mine didn`t come with a sheath, I really wish it did. I`ve been try to locate one with no luck.

The last pic, even though a bit blurry (sorry), shows the super high hollow grind.

Excuse the scratches.....she is a user;)

I have one of these purchased a couple of years ago. Beautiful knife. I was holding it, decided to see if there are still any more available and found that auction.

Looks nice. I would get one if it were available with thumb studs, I can't stand the nail notch.

Sorry to bump but just came across this thread, I ended up getting one of these through Kershawguy a trader on this forum and from the pics in this thread I dont think I'll be disappointed for under $50...it doesnt come with the sheath but I dont really use belt sheaths except on larger fixed blades.

under $50?
i always see them on the bay for about 70, and i never saw one on the exchange.

Kershawguy has them in box with sheath for $75, but for new with no sheath and generic white box he has some for $42...I can't wait to get it, considering it looks damn close to custom tolerances! :)

Just look up kershawguy in google for his website.

:thumbup:Hey guys, update on the kershaw 1993-2.
***I'm assuming since the moderators haven't edited anything, Kershawguy is a paying advertiser here too, so we can mention this. ***
This thread motivated me to order one of the plain box ones for $42, and it just came.
AMAZING KNIFE.
I've known about these for a while but kept getting sidetracked by more collectible blades.
I decided to not carry my vintage ivory micarta Al Mar eagle and falcons since they keep going up in value and i dont want to damage the blades. I got a great deal on them and they were lightly and gently used and lovingly cared for. I was worried i'd add a scratch and take the value down.
So i decided to give the kershaw a try as a replacement.
Fit and finish is perfect as expected by MOKI who made al mars too.
If you love traditional lockbacks with micarta look no further, and the brass liners are a classic touch too.
The knife looks and feels more substantial than even the similar al mar types. Meaning wider, due to thicker brass liners and micarta scales, thicker handle spine that continues with an equally thick blade spine that doesn't narrow up too much at the point, unlike my al mar eagle. Which seems a little "delicate" at the tip.
Add a generous FULL HOLLOW GRIND and you can't lose.
It looks big because its so wide and stout and heavy due to the thicker brass liners, but it's actually closer to the size of a falcon with a better blade.
Lastly, lets not forget the updated VG-10 steel has to be better than the outdated AUS-6/8.

If Santa is as good to me as I think he will be at the end of the year, I'll pick up another one.
Thanks again BF AND Robert.B for helpin me out.

Kershawguy is a long standing dealer on this forum, so mentioning him isnt a problem (very active in the kershaw sub forum).

I ordered mine on Saturday I believe it was and it arrived by Tuesday which I think is pretty darn good! I wont get to try mine out or go over it for a month or so but I've no doubt I'll be impressed.

Glad I could be of service, $42 bucks for a knive like this is IMO a steal.

That Kershaw Moki looks nice!

I have an old Moki, it's branded as a "Lokata", think thats how its spelled. Seeing this Kershaw is making me want to unbox it. I'm gonna get it out and take some pics of it. It has alot of the same characteristics as this 1993-2, my dad gave it to me as a gift when i was around 20 or 21, so that had to have been 1985 or 86.

If you check this thread out the model spoken about in this thread is a remake of a limited run from 1993 (hence the 2 on the end of the model number denoting a 2nd run of knives), the pics Kershawguy has posted of the original shows it has a bolster where as these are sans top bolster. Nothing wrong with the revival, I've been looking for a micarta handled folder with traditional looks at an affordable price to EDC for a while.

I would love an original 1993 with the bolster but I hate to think what premium they're pulling now days.
