Hey all,

This is my second Kershaw I've picked up. I've been eyeballing this model for a long time, I always like the look of it.

I was at a local gun/knife show today and one of the vendors had this one.
Super smooth flipper action and solid lockup! The blade is a little off center when closed, I've been trying to remedy it but havent had any luck yet.
I didnt think it mattered much till I saw my photos and a faint mark on the blade from one of the liners. Oh well, this is a user for sure.

This is a beefy folder and I wanted to slim it down some, so....

Grooved G10 scales and backspacer(I was suprised is wasnt G10) and polished hardwear. Left the clip as I think is a little less noticeable w/ jeans when its black.

Feedback welcome!
Thanks for having a look..I'm really diggin the last two Kershaws I've p/u btw. The Storm II and now this one.

Thanks for having a look!

I have to ask... I have been noticing the phrase p/u.. all over the place... What do you mean...???

You gotta love those grooved scales!
I love my Lahar. The only thing I would change would be to add thicker liners. I noticed that when I grip it too hard, the liners have a tendency to bend inwards.

Nice looking Lahar!

The blade of my Lahar is also somewhat off-center when closed although acceptable...I think it's somewhat common (as mentioned previously in an earlier thread or threads) due to the strength of the liner lock pressing against the blade when closed.

I've pretty much given up on perfect blade centering when closed...many of my recently acquired knives don't have it, including my 2 Spyderco Militarys, both costing considerably more than the Kershaw Lahar, one in S90V and CF and pretty pricey, and the other in S30V and G10 and less pricey although still double the cost of my Lahar.

I consider it a bonus now-a-days when a blade is centered when closed.

Fortunately Kershaw's excellent customer service will deal with this issue when severe enough to be considered a flaw as opposed to normal variation...the blade rubbing would seem to be severe enough.

Ray :)

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the feedback!

Yep Trimcut..p/u=picked up:thumbup:

Hey Offsetlover...I strip the knife, then use a dremel tool mounted in a vice with a sanding drum, same for the backspacer.

Reholi...this one isnt too bad, the blade is pretty darn close to rubbing, but like I said..this one is all user so I can live with it. Its nice to hear I can get it taken care of in the future by Kershaw though..from what I've read..there CS is outstanding:thumbup:

Again, thanks for the positive comments guys. I really enjoy doing this kind of work on folders and I'm really diggin this new folder!

Sweeet job on that mod , I like the way you grooved your scales and if ya don't mind I'm gonna do the same to my Groove.

Lahar is going to be my next Kershaw for sure.

I don't trip too much on off center blades when closed , especially on workhorse knives and what reholli said I agree with.

You can try to fix the off center by looseing all your frame screws , pivot screw too , the retightening them one at a time in different order to see if the problem fixes itself , that has worked for me in the past.

Sweet lookin' Lahar jprice!! I like it much. I love all the different things that are possible with G-10.

Cheers,
Jonny

BTW, your #2 Kershaw will NOT be your last, not by a long shot pal!

I love your mod too.
Makes IMHO the appearance of the Lahar less "boring"(if that makes sense).
Has it got much influence on the grip and ergos?

Kershaw has been coming out with some really great designs as of late. I'm really enjoying my tanto groove and lahar.
