Hello all...was able to pick up a 3140 from a guy at work. My brief Internet research shows that they are currently produced in China, this one might be a bit older as it was made in Japan. Any info as to its age and blade steel? Thanks!

The 3140 is the Wildcat Ridge, and I would suspect the model made in Japan has AUS6A steel, while the Chinese model is most likely 8Cr13MoV. I'm not sure when KAI stopped manufacturing these in Japan (if they have) as some still show up on the interwebs for sale NIB. Its a very nice knife. I have its little brother, the 3100 aka Grant County.
