Friends,
I'm new to knives, though I've been collecting watches (mostly Seiko divers) for a decade, so I remember what it means to be a forum newbie and I'm having a really good time on the learning curve with my nascent collection of sub-3" folders, mostly Kershaws at this point!
I love that Kershaw is making some seriously amazing designers work available at a sub-$50 (Canadian) price point. I have a trio of their Emersons (again, the little ones - cqc-1k, 2k, 3k) as well, and they're lovely. It makes it fairly easy for a new collector to get a feel for the designer before splashing out bigger bucks (or not).
On to my AM-3. This is a really great little knife, in my newbie opinion. Lovely feel in the hand, a nice length and very elegant. But I hate the red standoffs. (Your feelings may vary... A buddy of mine loves them.)
But like anything you might dislike about a specific Seiko diver, this can probably be fixed with a chat on the relevant forum and a trip to the parts bin.
These appear to be 0.25" deep and fairly small, but I expect that there are dozens of Kershaw knives that use the same part in black or stainless.
Would any of you who have a drawer full of Kershaws happen to know which knife would come equipped with a suitable replacement? I'm assuming that I'll need to buy another knife and swap them out, as the easiest path forward.
Any advice or wisdom appreciated!
Cheers,
Jeff
