Does Kershaw stick to one angle for their blades when sharpening regardless of knife? Or does the bevel angle depend on the model? Also, what models are flat ground?

I'm thinking the angles change depending on the knife. The Outcast I just picked up was way fatter than any of my bumps or other Kershaws. The grind was so bad on the Outcast I've still got it on my reprofiling table though. It even came with odd 1/4" long low spots where it looks like the grinder changed angles for a minute and the tip grind was screwy too. Beings how it's D2 I would have rather of had a decent edge on it when I recieved it. Still haven't gotten to use it.:grumpy:

Brutus, most all I've seen are around 40 degrees inclusive. Some a few degrees more, some less. Somewhere around here is a thread talking about which knives have what grinds...I'll try to find it for ya.

Oilman, I'd send your Outcast back and have them go at it again...mine has a very symmetrical grind.

It's 90% reprofiled now and I wouldn't want them to re fatten it up at the shop after all that work. Next time I have some free time I just need to finish the belly and tip on one side and she'll be done. Besides the 1/4" low spots roughly in the same area on both sides of the blade that were there when I bought it. It just doesn't seem very optimal considering the steel choice and edge angles when new. If I had read the reviews first, all of which said you needed to reprofile it when brand new, I probably wouldn't have bought it but I was at a gun show and didn't want to leave empty handed.:o:D The sheath leaves a lot to be desired too.
