This has probably been done before but I am going to do it again. I own a Scallion, Chive and Leek. I also own a Twitch 1 and 2 and a Blink. I like them all for different reasons but am curious as to what others think about them and why? The other big question here is why? Everytime someone post a question needing a suggestion for knives in these size ranges I hear "Leek, Scallion, Blur etc.." I rarely hear a SOG knife get suggested. Why?

Kershaw is better than SOG. Why? Because my Twitch II no longer opens strong enough to lock, Kershaws seem to keep on opening at full strength longer.

On a side note, it surprises me that my lower quality CRKT M4 seems to open just as strong and quick as my Kershaw's. The big, thick torsion bar seems pretty heavy duty; however I did not use it as much as my Twitch II.

Kershaw's seems to me to be a much better value than SOG's. That being said, I no longer carry either, as I am a slip-joint man now.

Why? Because my $30 kershaw's AO was both faster and more durable than my $65 sog trident's. And also, many of the sog knives seem overpriced. A $65 knife should not be made of AUS-8, IMHO.

My EDC is a Small Sebenza. I am sending it off to be reconditioned, way overdue. The reason for this post is because I am a collector. I have narrowed it down to 4 knives from my collection to possibly use as a temporary EDC. My EDC gets used hard, that is why I carry what I carry. Of the 4 knives, 2 are SOG and 2 are Kershaw all without a scratch. I only want to beat up one. I want some honest and good feed back before I decide and ship off my beloved Sebbie.

Kershaw without question, the clip on the SOGs just aren't for me and the tremendous amount of blade play I see on most of the new SOG AO's I get at the store is not too pleasing to me and the steel question about paying the amount of money for AUS 8 is overpriced, now I like AUS 8 and it's great in $30-$40 knives depending on what they are.

I think it's pretty much standard data that Kershaw has the AO's down pat. If for some reason you were to ware it out, Kershaw will send you a replacement torsion bar. You don't have to send in your knife or pay postage and you don't void the warranty by replacing it yourself.

I prefer the Speed-safe by Kershaw. I' ve never really had a problem with my SOG Twitch II but I like the simplicity of the torsion bar alot more than the springs in the SOGs which can wear out or break.

Kershaws speedsafe is the best on the market IMO..
Easily better than that of of benchmade or Sog for my opinion..

Aside from being a better AO, I prefer Kershaw over SOG for 4 main reasons: horrible SOG blade play (I've tried 3 different Tridents and all had so much blade play that it couldn't be corrected), cheap SOG washers compared to Kershaw's PB washers (which may explain a lot of the blade play), cheap feeling handles on the SOG, and IMO inferior steel. 13C26, 14C28N (proprietary collaboration with Sandvik, a Kershaw exclusive), S30V, 110V, ZDP-189 etc. > anything SOG puts out. I know some SOG models come in VG-10, an excellent steel, but still not enough of a reason to negate the other three major factors.

Oh, let's add #'s 5 and 6: SOG is overpriced for what you get quality-wise versus Kershaw, and Kershaw's warranty is one of if not the best in the industry.

Wait...#7: Kershaw is made in the USA, versus SOG's manufacturing locations ???.

I think there's more than enough reasons to favor Kershaw over SOG without considering Kershaw's patented SpeedSafe AO system.

Why? Because my $30 kershaw's AO was both faster and more durable than my $65 sog trident's. And also, many of the sog knives seem overpriced. A $65 knife should not be made of AUS-8, IMHO.

Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself.
