:)I just recieved a kershaw avalanche today,,How does kershaw do it? The first thing that I noticed was the weight..It had a nice heft to it..then when I opened it,, I was amazed...smoothe as silk. a slight nudge of the thumb stud and it opened with a sound and a smootheness that screemed of qualilty only found in knives of much higher value..the blade of S30 steel was thick and razor sharp,,flawless...I picked this knife up for 42.00 dollars at smoky mountain knife works....It easily rivals any of my other knives,,incuding my spyderco stretch, and sog tac auto which cost twice as much....I read some threads in this forum that stated that kershaw was good, but not equal to spyderco or benchmade... IMO. the only thing not equal is the price.:D

Heh I'll take my Kershaw/ZT anyday over a BM. Especially with the way BM is being right now. I don't like the way spydie's look, but I probably will try one out sometime.

The avalanches are a complete STEAL right now!

They aren't closing out the Avalanche, are they? I ask because that seems like a super low price for an S30V knife...

Kershaw is every bit as good as both mentioned brands , honestly I see nothing that would make either Spyderco or Benchmade better.

All of them offer modest introductions to the brand as well as higher quality materials in more expensive knives.
However , Kershaw offers higher quality at a better price than either brand.

How do you think kershaw does it,,,good quality, great material, made in USA, low price, Why cant sog, spyderco and benchmade do the same...or at least come close...probably because they know that we will pay. sometimes we think that if something is not expensive, it is not good quality....if we change our buying habits,, the companies will change also...

Sounds like Avalanche is very good knife a worthy rival for Buck Vantage Pro in sub $50 S30V folder range.

Hey, how is the security of the locking liner on the Avalanche?

Kershaw employees spine whack all of their knives scores of times during assembly. They are built to be secure, and they have the best warranty in the business to back it up if you are concerned about yours. All of the Kershaws that I own can pass the spine whack no problem--and half of them are liner-locking ones too.

The Avalanche is a real bargain at that price. It is a shame that they are being disco'ed, but more good stuff is coming.

Two more disco'ed this year to look for: the Boa (S30V and Speedsafe) and the ZT0500 (154CM, Hawk lock, and a completely sealed pivot).

Centofante
Vapors not huge loss
All gone for 2010.

The ET and Ripcord also? Can't remember for sure.

Dang, the framelock JYD is gone, too?

On one hand, it sucks that they're gone, but on the other hand, closeout sales means more knives for me
