Questions on the Avalanche -

(1) anyone ever replace the G10 handle scales? Is it hard to do, esp. w/the SpeedSafe mechanism?

(2) anyone ever remove the lame black blade coating, without power tools, and how did it look in the end?

(3) general impressions of this knife from past/present users?

anyone? C'mon, at leats one person on this board must have owned one of these knives . . . ?

Ive had one since they first came out, have two in sandblast, three in the black coat. The only thing Ive ever done was to polish the blade on a sanblasted model. You can change the handles, you can take the blade out, but you have to be careful so you do not lose the parts!!

as far as the knife goes it has been temporarily replaced by my 721. However Im going back to it. I have to say its a wonderful, all around carry knife!!!

Ive though about putting some nice jigged bone on one of mine. In my opinion its the best definiton of "edc". thats just my opinion though!
