The Avalanche has better steel and better look (IMO). On the other hand Mini-Cyclone has adjustable AO, uncoated blade (which I prefer) and is cheaper.

Which one would you choose for an EDC? And I'm not going to get both :>

I have the Avalanche and the large size Cyclone. They are both great knives. I like the cyclone a bit better and the AO on -off switch is a nice feature. If I were picking a EDC, I think the Avalanche is a more comfortable carry knife.

Check out these two on Ebay....I have bought from this dealer....cheap and fast delivery.. item #330030844783 and 330031406000......

be careful around the avalanche
the shallow choil can lead to cuts on your index finger
i'd go for the cyclone

I've played with both but bought the Avalanche. The Cyclone is a neat knife, but it doesn't seem comparable to me to the avalanche. The avalanche has some of the best G10 scales, a beefy construction, it's a good EDC size and it's quite affordable at only 80ish online. I've been very impressed with mine. Also, I don't have to be careful with the AO at all...it's much less likely to open than my Bump or mini mojo....the force has to be applied at the correct angle. I've learned to like thumbstud AO. It isn't as good as flipper AO, but I always felt that if I have a flipper, AO was useless anyway...

My choice would be the Avalanche too. I happen to like knives made with steel or titanium frames and G10 scales instead of aluminum, but that's just a personal preference. It has very thick liners, excellent lockup and extremely fast AO.

Its a very well made knife for the price and the fit and finish is on par with the other top brands...

Check out the Blur too, it too has a solid aluminum frame but has grippy material on the handle, comes either with coated or uncoated blades and several different colors.
