Kershaw Balisongs?

Per my understanding the Bradley Kimura Balisongs were made for Bradley by Kershaw. Unfortunately Bradley is ceasing disrtribution of Balisongs and the Kimuras are disappearing rapidly. Too bad as the Bradley Kimura was according to Balisong affecionados definitely the best of the relatively inexpensive Balisong knives available.

I would like to see Kershaw continue production and distribution of Balisongs under their own name. Maybe even do some even less expensive models in China, or the Philippines, to provide decent quality butterfly knives at a reasonable price. From what I read current production Balisongs that sell for less than the Kimura series did are pretty much junk.

Kershaw would have to produce the Balisongs in the USA. I believe that the importation of Balisongs is illegal.

I believe Kershaw decided to stop making the Kimmies because they didn't sell too well (The balisong community is relatively small) So I don't imagine them starting their own line of them.

Well, I guess I better try and find at least a couple before they are all gone. I think a a well made balisong with premium materials could sell pretty well. However, you still have all those pesky knife laws in various places that prohibit them. I had one of the Kimuras (borrowed from a friend), and it was a very well built and balanced piece.

To me the Balisong laws are ridiculous seeing as how the knife is slower to open than a decently made flipper or other modern folder knife, assisted or not. I suspect that the laws got passed due to the demonstrations of spins and other tricks engaged in by martial artists and Balisong enthusiasts. A bunch of stupid lawmakers who have watched too many martial arts and gangbanger movies and demonstrations have banned multiple forms of edged implements while the sales of handguns continues unabated.

Per my reading Nevada, where I live, has no restrictions on Balisongs. As a kid, age 9, our family moved to Batangas in the Philippines where my father managed an oil refinery for Caltex Oil. That seems to be the point from which the popularity of the butterfly knife spread though I have seen reprints of advertising from Europe pre WWII indicating similar knife designs were made there. A filipino who carried a knife in the Batangas area typically carried a Balisong.

There seems to be absolutely no sense to Federal knife laws and many states have followed the Federal example in the types of knives which are restricted from sale or carry within given states.

At blade Thomas said you were having trouble with the focusing array, how'd you fix that?
I don't know too much about the whole situation, but the calculated field intensity maps were created by Tim, and coherently oscillating dipoles oriented along the vector of the incident polarization x and located at the holes of the array with the coordinates.

The dipoles were assumed to be oscillating coherently as they are excited by a plane wave. In this case, flesh still was not cauterizing.

So there is work to do.

How about zt lightsabers? :D
R&D thinks they have is down, but cannot get flesh to cauterize, so I'm not sure where we are at today.

Sounds like some people have a lot of time on their hands :D.

Lol that was very creative, kudo's to you

Sounds like something Tim would be able to fix....do you know if he chose the Adegan crystal for the blade shroud emitter? Or did he go with the Ankarres Sapphire?

Adegan Crystals of course. He's been using the Crystal Tuning Device at (-136, +892, +88), but perhaps that needs some tuning. He has also been utilizing the Magenta at a mid-level in color variation, this is really a concern, but not a deal breaker. Now the 3 separate nodes are linearly, but we think eventually we can control them.

Needless to say, no ETA at this time.

I should have known. when Thomas showed me the prototype I was especially impressed by the inert power insulator and the power field conductor. He sayed they where made out of a mixture of Sarrassian and Mandalorian iron!
