Any reviews for the Kershaw Salvo Barrage as a everyday carry knife...got a buddy has a slightly used..looks mint..wants 17 bucks for it..looks like a cool knife...but need some advice for the panel of experts here..thank u

I had a CE one a while back and sold it with the promise to myself that I would replace it with a PE one. Maybe the black one. Well, I never did get around to buying the damn thing since a few other knives diverted my attention (710-D2, Izula, Endura4 G-10, RC-4 and ZT0300) :o .

It reminds me of a larger Leek but non-AO. Also kinda like the Endura/Delica in how it sits clipped in my front pocket. Very flat and unobtrusive. You forget it's there. I can't say enough good things about the Sandvik 14C28N. Takes a wicked edge and does a decent job of keeping it even cutting cardboard. The framelock and the subsequent lockup was solid on mine. Put the clip in the tip-down position and you have a "po' man's Hinderer Lockbar Stabilizer" :p . I like the Trac-Tec material like on my Blur CB. The difference being the Barrage is easier to pocket clip because it doesn't have the Trac-Tec on the clip side. It slides into the pocket much easier. The size was just about perfect since I prefer right around 3" for and EDC size. The action was smooth. IIRC, it has phosphor-bronze washers. It has a very elegant and simple shape to it. Could almost pass for a gentleman's knife. Polish it up and put some wood where the Trac-Tec is and it would totally be a traditional gentleman's knife.

Anyways, thanks for posting this and reminding me how much I miss my Barrage (Salvo ). I will be ordering one soon.

For $17 dollars this is a steal. Its even a great deal at street price. The only issue, as nutnfancy mentioned is the thumbstud placement. Everything else about this knife is top notch.

I gave mine to a co-worker who's just becoming a knife nut and he can already tell what a huge step up in quality this knife is compared to what he's used to.

BTW: Here's a thread on them when they first came out.

I used one of my favorite internet stores to buy mine this week. I paid more, though.

I like the design.
I like the steel. In manila rope cutting it is somewhat below AUS8, but it takes an edge as fine as that of carbon steel. Good boogie!
using the clip as a lockbar stabilizer is a stroke of genius on the part of Kershaw's designer.

They put too small a stud on it. My thumb is sore from cycling it to loosen up the action.

I have one from walmart that I got for $30. I don't like it very much. Not very ergonomic and the lock is very tight. That being said, the steel is nice for the cost.

Mine also. Thinking about using epoxy resin the increase the size of the thumb stud so it doesn't cut into my thumb.
