Hey folks...still have my never-ending fixed blade hunting knife search going on, and came across a knife I previously ruled out based purely on price, the Kershaw Bear Hunter...from the looks of it, it seems like a great knife for the price...anyone here have any experience using/holding it? Thanks!

I'm interested in your thread. It appears to be a great knife for the money. I hope others chime in and let us know. I'd say a good deal from a great knife company that should last you a lifetime, and if you put it though hard use and break it, who cares, it's so inexpensive.

Looks like a great knife. I had a clip point model a few years back and thought it was a very good knife for the money. The handle appears to be similar and I liked it because it afforded a secure grip and it was comfortable to hold and use. AUS-8 steel is a perfectly good user blade steel too.

I've got other fixed blade knives that I use while hunting so I've never bought the Kershaw but I've used my buddy's Bear Hunter and really liked it. Field dressed a young boar and it served me well. It was razor sharp to begin with and still had a pretty good edge at the end. Boar hair and hide are tough on blades and it held up fine. I did touch it up afterwards and it took an edge quick. I believe BM hardens their Aus 8 to 59 - 60 and I don't think the Kershaw is up that high, I'm guessing 56 -58? It's a great knife especially for the price. I'd get one for myself if I could justify getting another hunting knife. As it is I'd get it for any of my hunting buddies that needed a reliable knife in a heartbeat, it'd be a great gift. The grip is comfortable as well. If you do purchase it I don't think you'll be dissappointed.

I bought the smaller version, the Antelope with the orange handle for my brother and he loves it. He's always putting his knife down and losing it and the orange handle helps out a lot.
