I was just wondering if any of you knew if there was a way to make adjust the lock on a Blackout because it just is not cutting it for me (pun intended) I mean, I can spine whack it on my knee and the blade will just up and decide it doesnt want to be locked any more.

on a side note, it doesnt like holding an edge for that long, is it lousy steel of bad sharpening? (Didn't know if i need another thread or what)

Thanks!!

Hi Crazyman,

depending on year of manufacturing the steel could be 440, 13C26, 14C28

Send the knife to kershaw's warrantee dept

Kershaw Knives, Zero Tolerance Knives & Shun
18600 SW Teton Ave Tualatin, OR 97062

The blade is marked June 09 if that means anything for the steel.
It is a Factory Blemish so does that affect my ability to send it in for waranty work?

Based on the date, the steel is Sandvik 14C28N. Factory blemish knives are not covered under any warranty.

Disassemble it and reassemble it while "pulling" the lock side down as you tighten your pivot and body screws. It can help with lockup in my experiences. Sorry if it's tough to explain but you want to reassemble it while using the tolerances to favor late lockup when securing it.

pull the lock into the knife like bend it slightly to make it engage more or push that liner more tward the "front" of the knife?
