Kershaw Blackout or Kershaw Leek?

The blackout has more of a substantial handle than that of the leek. It still rides well in the pocket but not aswell as the slim leek. I just got turned of by the leeks blade shape. I carried a blackout for several years before i started getting into higher speed knives.

The Random Leek from Chesapeake Knife and Tool is way better than either. Just my opinion...I could be wrong.

I think I might get the Leek instead because its more "friendly" looking and less scary than the Blackout.

which one is a better EDC?

For me a good EDC is the compromise is between comfort and comfort...

Comfort in carry
and
Comfort in use

Probably with carry given more weight, since it's a simple fact that an EDC knife spends far more time carried than used. Having said that the knife canNOT be UNcomfortable - one shouldn't sacrifice THAT much.

I have both the Blackout and the Leek.

The Leek has been my (at home) EDC for well over a year - mainly because it is easy to carry around being slim - and comfortable in the hand - there are no sharp corners everything is well rounded/bevelled.

To me although the Blackout is more hand-filling it is not necessarily any more comfortable - and it is definitely bulkier and much less comfortable being carried.

The Leek is more convenient due to its Index-Open flipper - makes the knife really simple to open - I actually carry a knife on my person at home, despite having any number of knives available lying around, simply because the Leek is more convenient to use.

I've written a long detailed review of the Leek -

Unfortunately the monthly bandwidth of my photo hosting has been exceeded -so the photos won't be visible until next month - however, if there are enough requests I can change/update the photo hosting so they can be seen sooner.

I agree with the recommendation on the Random Leek. I need to get one myself... but if you don't want to spend that much the regular Leek is awesome too. Do consider the rainbow, black, or even gold versions. The coating is soo nice and very durable. The Blackout for me is difficult to open. The way my thumb operates with the stud seems to stop the spring action and my thumb quickly fatigues. The flipper on the Leek really is useful!
