Just received my Kershaw blackout from fetzer, and I have to say I am super impressed. Lockup is great! It has a thumb stud but still opens fast, great edge on it. Of course I took some paper from the printer to test it and boy am I impressed!

yep, agree. great little knife. got one i carry often in rotation. like everything about it, but wish it was a bit longer in the blade....but plenty of others to fill that need, so a non-issue. enjoy yours...

Congrats on your new blade! I would edc my Blackout for months at a time. That thing is comfortable as hell. Throw some pics up. You can never have enough pics on this forum.

I thought about getting one of those, but the looks of it do not do it for me. At least the knife is well built, glad you are happy with your purchase.

Relatively inexpensive with good reviews, guess it's being added to the list. Oh how I wish I had all the money I'm spending in my dreams.

The Blackout is an awesome knife that doesn't get a lot of attention. But it fills the hand well, looks great, cuts like a champ and has long, awesome clip. And they aren't spendy. Mine came as a factory second from Kershawguy.

If I'm not mistaken the blackout was the best selling Kershaw to date. Atleast a few months ago it was. The whirlwind satin blade and the blizzard green handle are its sisters for those who didn't know. Cool knife, hope you enjoy it!

Glad you're liking it provost. Wasn't really my style but glad I could pass it along to you!

Wow really cool, I didn't have any idea that was the best selling kershaw. Good info

I have one and I was underwhelmed. It looks great, but I didn't like the plastic handles (too smooth) or the thumbstud. Also, the blade was a little off center on my specimen. The thick part of the blade rubs the plastic handle as I close it. I like it enough that I'm keeping it and it does get carried because it is lightweight. It would get carried more with some minor improvements and a deep conceal pocket clip.

I can see where you're coming from about the handle, although the texture always seemed grippy enough for most light to medium-duty tasks (which is what I use mine for). But what is it about the thumbstud you don't like? Just curious...

When it was new, I had trouble opening the blade one handed. It was a combination of stiffness of a new blade and boxed edge of the stud and it's proximity to the edge of the handle. I couldn't get a good push. Compare it to the Blur thumbstud, my first Kershaw, which is angled and spaced where I could get a lot of grip on the stud and open without thinking. It's less of an issue now as the stiffness is gone and it opens easier now. It's just not ideal.

I'm thinking about it, and I totally understand what you mean. As I recall, I too had to find the perfect deployment method. It didn't happen overnight. Thanks for the response, man.
