Anyone have one? Likes? Dislikes? I saw one on closeout for $30. Is it worth getting or should I save the money and get something more expensive like a Spyderco or Benchmade?

Thanks,
Scott

My wife has carried a Blackout for five or six years now. No probs with the SpeedSafe or the lock. It's not the latest and greatest steel (440A, IIRC) but it's got a pretty good grind and seems to have a good heat treat. For $30 I don't think you'll be sorry.

$30 is a great price. Get it. You'll get $30 worth of enjoyment just from the Speed Safe opening, and Kershaws come very sharp and are easy to sharpen. They make great users and they're quality is very good for the price.

I had a Kershaw Whirlwind for about ten years ? (whenever they first came out). I lost it a few months ago and replaced it with a used Kershaw BlackOut I got off of E-bay. IMHO, it's well worth $30 for a new one.

I passed this guy up for $25. It was for sale in some store in SF, closeout. I've handled them and was never very impressed. It just didn't ride very comfortable. But this is not true for all people, I'm sure.
I say, if the blade shape does it for you and you like round/plastic handles like the BM Griptillian, then go for it.

I generally see them for $45.00 so its a good deal. I like the blackout, but its bigger than I normally carry for EDC, so it mainly just gets "played" with using the speed assist, which really works. It was also razor sharp right out of the box. Its a pretty bulky knife, but its light.

I have a Whirlwind which is basically the same knife. It seems like pretty good quality. I have very large hands and the slick handles are hard for me to hold on to when the blade kicks open. The shape of the grip seemed to push the knife up out of my back pocket as I got into and out of a car. Twice, I found it in my car seat when I came back to my car. It has since been replaced with a Kershaw Blur as my weak hand knife.
