For anyone who has modified the Blur to eliminate the assisted opening feature -- how does it compare with other manual folders from, say, BM and Spyderco?
Thanks.

The AO is not just for opening, but also for keeping the blade in the handle when closed.

On the Blur, you can remove the torsion bar with no ill effect, on a lot of Kershaws AO knives however, the torsion bar does indeed act as a blade detent.

I actually have a Blur right now with no torsion bar and I prefer it this way, the blade acts as most regular liner locks do, and there is a nice strong ball detent to keep it closed.

Thanks, BJE.

I like this tall blade, particularly the S30V version, but have no use for the assisted opening feature.
