Hey everyone I have a quick question for anyone willing to help. I have a Kershaw Blur that I de-assisted. After doing so I noticed my blade being off center and scraping the non-locking side of the handle. I tried loosening the pivot and body screws and putting paper to push the blade where I wanted it to go and it worked but after flipping it a while it went back to scraping the side. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Did you use blue lock on pivot after it was set where u wanted it? after flipping it will losen up and be off center again.......Also did you see the new blur model plain edge with BDZ-1 steel from kershawguy.com

No I didn't, know any place I can pick it up at? Also I haven't seen the knew one. Better steel I'm Geussing?

Most knives come with blue lock tight on the pivot screw so when u took torsion bar out u broke that seal and its easy for pivot screw to losen each time you flip it open. Most hardware stores carry the stuff it where I got mine but make sure you get BLUE!!! Thats very very important

Did you already use the Loctite? If not, what I do is find a thin strip of cardboard, preferably enough to slightly overcorrect the centering just a hair, and then apply the Loctite, tightening the screw(s) immediately after. I let it sit for several hours and then remove the cardboard.

Now, when I mean "slightly overcorrect" I really mean slightly. In my experience, when the cardboard is removed, the blade will creep back just a little bit.

How do you get the pivot adjusted before the loctite is seated? Do you adjust and then let sit for a while? Thanks by the way!

Yes, adjust and then wait. I would suggest overtightening the pivot to the point that it doesn't open smoothly enough for your tastes, then backing it off to where you are happy with it, keeping a mental note of how far you had to back off to loosen it. Once you are confident that you can adjust it to where you want it, apply the Loctite and then let it sit. I equate it to trying to zero a new gun scope or sights - you have to get an idea that your adjustments are accurate. (Yes, Loctite is popular for gun optics too.)

Yep, just adjust normally and then let it sit. After you apply it you'll have enough time to find the sweet spot.

Thank OP (and responders) for asking this question. I deassisted my Blur the other night and had the exact same issue. Haven't fixed it yet, but all the advice given will save me time when I do.

From what I've read, it also helps smoothness and centering on de-assisted Kershaws and ZT's to replace the tiny torsion bar side washer with a full size one to match the non-torsion bar side one.

I had thought about doing that also. Can washers like that be found at a hardware store?

Thank you all for the help! I was a little nervous because my Blur was a good edc blade up until my OCD got the best of me and I couldn't handle an off center blade! I fixed it with the blue loctite and also put pencil marks to see if it moves. Thanks again.
