I've been shopping for a Kershaw recently and had a difficult time deciding which model to buy. I think I'm ready to pull the trigger on a Blur in S30V. It seems like a great value for the blade steel and I like the design. I did a search and found a few posts here on the Blur, and just wanted to get some more opinions about this knife from those who may already be using it.

Thanks.

the blade steel is great... and I love the stone wash finish. I'm not a big fan of the handle and lock. I would prefer a frame lock or a sturdier liner lock. Also, the pivot on the one I had constantly needed to be adjusted. I don't like the clip being black because it draws too much attention. I think it IS nice and light and thin. the only one that has tempted me is the SG2 blade version just because the higher performance value of this rare steel. And I like the goldish color to the handle. The black blurs tend to show up every little nick. I might opt for the MiniCyclone ZDP189 Titanium frame lock... for a tad more money. But that's just me. (Iactually don't carry that, I carry the SG2 JYDII, and a g10 Leek)

The Blur is a great knife, I have the SG2 version. The lock on mine is really solid and has given me no reason for concern. I can't imagine the S30V version would be any different.

A very highly respected member of the forum, STR has a high opinion of Kersaw liner locks a mentions it in this thread.

He also has a pretty thorough review of the SG2 Blur here.

I have the S30V version.

Personally, I like its black/silver color better than the earth tones of the SG2 version.
And while SG2 has its strong proponents, certainly S30V is also one of the best blade steels available today.

Either way, it's a great knife all the way around.
Size, weight, ergos, build, fit & finish - the whole deal.

I just recieved a new Blur SG2, and am totally impressed with the quality. The blade is perfectly centered, zero blade play, and it has a wonderful balance. I bought it in a moment of weakness...I read the same review as posted above:D The knife is an excelent value IMO:thumbup:

I also have the S30 Blur and the only thing that was able to knock it out of my pocket was the SG2 sprint run blur. I can strongly reccomend the blur. The size, lockup, bladesteel, heat treatment, edge geomotry and quality, and strong assist all contribute to a well balanced, tough but manageable utility folder. I very much reccomend it as a medium/hard use high quality folder. Joe

Great info and thanks. This will be my first Kershaw blade. The comments on the SG2 version have me curious now about that model, but it seems like either this or the S30V would make for an excellent blade.

I don't think you can go wrong either, color might really be the deciding factor.
