I can't decide from a Kershaw Leek Rainbow, or a Kershaw Blur red handle? They are both good looking to me. Which would you guys say would hold up better to wood work, like whittling, and box cutting?

Based on the cutting tasks you mentioned, I would have to go with the Leek.

I've carried a Leek for years, and I'm very happy with it for packaging and other everyday utility cutting. For serious whittling I think the blur may work faster, but the big blade may get in your way for detail work.

If you're wearing jeans, you'll appreciate the size of the Leek for EDC.

Also, the rainbow coating is very durable--just don't let anyone clean it with an abrasive kitchen sponge!

I've used a rainbow leek virtually daily for a year--absolutely no wear on the rainbow finish, except for when I accidentally dropped it on the pavement and I had a tiny amount of scratches in one corner. I was amazed, since it slid quite a ways.

I'd say go for the rainbow leek--it catches gals eyes, too :D

Rainbow Leek
Mid size
Light
Comes with a little bag to keep it in
if you dont want to use the pocket clip.
A/O flipper is on the back of the blade also.
I feel it is easier to open than the blur.
That is just me though.

I was gonna say blur.

The leek is too damned small.

You will be happy either way though.

I have a BLUR that I have carried everyday for the last 4 year. Mine has the partial seraration (sp) which comes in handy to open tubes of silicone that I use at work for gasket sealer.

Works for me. Pat

One quick opinion. If you are planning on working on wood and slicing cardboard, the abrasive nature of those two materials might wear on the rainbow finish. I would suggest the Blur. I have one of the older 440a models and it is a pleasure to use.
