Does anyone know when kershaw stopped using the sandpaper like skateboard tape on the Blur ? I just got a Blur with an S30V blade and the older sandpaper inserts. I think this is odd
because I thought that steel type was used after the switch to the rubber like inserts? It doesn't feel like a fake but I'm just trying to correct my memory. So many knives, so much to remember lol

No, the first runs of the Blur, the scales had no inserts. They came from the factory, with the scales having the trac-lok formed into them.

Someone might've swapped the blades, the early Blurs didn't come in S30V. That came after the switch to the rubberized inserts into the scales.

That's what I thought. Any idea when the change to rubber happened,? Someone doing a blade swap seems probable since I've not seen a fake with the sandpaper grips, also I can hear the torsion spring rattle which means somone had it apart and cleaned the grease out or it really is a fake which explains why I got it for $40 used🤔

Not sure what year the swap happened, I think it was a couple of years after the Blur came on the market.

$40 used ain't bad, just sounds like someone upgraded to a better steel.

Yep, I've done that before.lol Skateboard tape Blurs are classic. 🤙
