Anyone know if the Kershaw Blur KS1670GY was ever made with a 13C26 steel blade? I'm looking at purchasing one online and the seller said the blade is make of 13C26 with the gray handle. I thought I saw somewhere that they were just switching over to 13C26 from 440A and I don't see that knife with 13C26 on Kershaw's website.

I have a black Blur dated Sep'06 and it's Sandvik 13C26 steel. For some reason I'm not satisfied with it - hard to get it really sharp even on a Sharpmaker.

The Kershaw Blur is listed as S30V Blur and the Silver Blur is listed as 440A in AG Russell's website. I haven't heard of any changes. You might ask that question in the Kershaw forum herein.

I just posted the same question on the Kershaw sub forum. Thanks for the suggestion oldscrimmer. Jed, so you like the 440A better?

Don't think yours would be Sandvik 13C26. The changeover date is July 07, all knives made in July 07 or after have the new steel.

correct. In addition, for those that might have them there were S30V and SG2 sprint runs. Both higher priced due to the higher cost of the steel, and also higher processing costs.

I have one of each, except for the 13C26 changeover base steel, and they are all excellent knives IMO. If I had to chose one I'd probably take the SG2 version. It's beautiful bronze color, and softer, but still grippy inlays along with the premium steel make for a wonderfull EDC AO knife. Joe

Mastiff, due to price, I'm considering either the 440A or the 13C26. Any thoughts on which would be a better choice?
