Hey guys, i am trying to decide between the Sog Ageis or the Kershaw Blur for general edc use and possibly self defense.

Thanks, Max

I have both and the Blur will serve you much better, better overall fit and finish. I wouldn't use it around sheeple though, black blade and tanto tip don't bode well with them.

Blur for sure! Made in USA and Kershaws Warranty is simply amazing... And of course hit up Kershaw Guy and he will set you up right!

Thanks for all the reply's guys i appreciate it! I will be going with the Kershaw Blur. Do you guys prefer the Smooth blade or the Tanto blade for general edc and possibly self defense?

I prefer the normal blade for EDC :)

The Aegis is also a fine knife, and in some respects superior to the Blur (it buries deeper in the pocket, for example). So this isn't a slam dunk in favor of the Blur. Its pretty subjective, though its also true that the majority of folks will choose the Blur.

Chester22. You have a lot of Kershaws!! holy cow!!

yeah I have about 30...I have owned a Aegis and I like it but I just like the Blur more, especially as a EDC.. Its built tough and I love Kershaw and the people who make them.. Plus you can buy the Blur at the moment in about 15-20 variety's.

Of the two I'd personally opt for the blur. I've had an Aegis and couldn't really warm up to it. Didn't care much for the Axis-esque lock, and the handles, while serviceable felt weird to my hands. The Blur just feels more ergonomic to me, but then again ergonomics can be purely subjective. With the Blur I'd say my favorite variation is the one sporting the stonewashed S30V blade. With that being said, I felt the Aegis did have a better blade profile seeing as I don't particularly care for recurves. As with any purchase I'd say handle both in person if possible.
