So, just for s**ts and giggles when i placed a warranty order on parts for my kershaw blur, i requested every piece, including a thumb stud. Didn't know how i was going to replace it but i wanted to see if it's round all the way through or notched or what. So, they send it to me, but yet, theres nothing holding it in. Do they epoxy it in or something? They also sent me the tool, which is sweet. How well do the bits hold up?

probably press fit--heat the blade, cool the thumbstud, press it in, and then when everything goes back to normal temperatures, it's in there pretty well.

A good arbor press should do the job. Not sure how big it will need to be but a half ton one should do the job I'd think. I'm not positive but some studs done that way only go in one way which means they only come out one way also. So, you may have to be on top of it and if it won't budge one way flip the blade and try it that way. It may pop right out. Again though I'm not sure of how Kershaw does there studs like this.

The tool they sent me doesn't even fit the screws on the knife!

Did they send you a T-Tool?

If so, there are multiple bits inside the handle.....bits that fit every piece of hardware on the Blur.

Well, they advertise as t6, t-8 and phillips. But the t-6 needs to be a t-7 for the frame screws that hold the back spacers & knife together. The t-8 fits the pivot but the clip screws and frame screws are t-7's.

I checked the screws on my Blur, using a Matco set, they were a T6, the T7 wouldn't fit. So either the t-tool's T6 is slightly smaller than a true T6 or the screws are slightly larger.
How much slop is there in the bit? A little bit of slop is generally okay.

I have two of those kershaw tools, I have taken apart every kershaw I've owned with them, including a blur. Are you sure you didn't strip the screws in the handle before hand?

positive. I had to use my torx set to replace all the screws. They just don't fit. They use a 7, they include a 6 and 8.

Hmm tht's odd, most modern kershaws I've seen use a T-6 for most screws, and a T-8 for the pivot an maybe one or two other screws.

It definately is a t7, at least according to the kit i got at radio shack. The t6 in the kit is smaller than the t6 kershaw sent me. But the t8 matches up both with my kit & with the pivot. I'm stumped.
