As some of you read in my other post i have the newer red kershaw blur. I took the clip off and tightened up the pivot screw because it had some side to side bladeplay (minimal, but it bothered me).Can you over tighten? How do you tell? Also, im not a fan of tip up because i was bitten by my griptilian bad a few times but im wondering your opinions on it with this knife. Just the fact that i got cut made me weary of why anyone would do tip up.

You can tell if you've overtightened the pivot... when the knife becomes hard to open.

How do you get cut? When it's clipped to your pocket, isn't the spine against the side, preventing any ability to open the knife?

Well i realize when it's hard to open its too tight lol, i work on all my knives and have been collecting for a while. I just know nothing about that torsion bar and whats inside mechanically, i have yet to mess around with it other than the pivot pin because nothing's wrong with it. As for getting cut. i have it in my right pocket tip up like it comes in the box. The blade's spine is pointing left in my right pocket and when i reached in to grab some change the blade opened up. It's opened up when ive pulled it out too. Maybe the thumb studs i dunno. Just creeps me out because i dont know when itll open. And grippys are only tip up. It's set perfectly for no blade play and if you own a grippy you know how smooth they are. So yeah, i barely carry the grippy around anymore which is ashame because other than the clip i love it but with all the stuff i do i cant just drop it in my pocket like a slipjoint.

If the Grip is right pocket tip up the blade spine is facing or leaning against the pocket liner. It can't open unless the clip is on the wrong side. As far as the Blur goes. It's like any other folder as far as the pivot is concerned. Don't worry about the torson bar. If the blade is tight left, right, back and front you hit the sweet spot. If not adjust it like any other folder.

The Blur comes out of the box tip down. No problem there if that's what you're comphy with. I have carried both Blur tip up & down. No problems ever. I prefere tip up. I will now often carry a grip. Tip up, only choice available and that's fine because it the AXIS lock is the best lock ever invented plus tip up works for me. It may not for you and so NO GRIP FOR YOU. :D Blur, choice is yours.
Good Luck.

I prefer tip up, I suppose it's how each person likes to deploy their knife. What I like is that once pulled from my pocket my hand naturally slide down making it easier to open the knife for me. I've carried tip up so long now that tip down is awkward for me:thumbup:

but the blur is spring assisted, is it not? so there should be no chance of it opening by itself in your pocket like the griptilian

I retook it apart, loctited the pivot ( i could twist it with just my finger and some pressure ) and loctited the clip screws too. Only a small dab of blue loctite. For people who have a problem with getting the pivot pin out or tightening it (when i did it with my finger i also had this done) i doubled over some scotch tape and cleaned under the clip with rubbing alcahol. Then i screwed the clip back on. Held well. It's perfect now, not loose and not tight either. Did it to my griptilian a lil while back too. I like knowing my knives will stay how i want them and won't loosen up either.

Good job Suzuki!!

Yes the Blur is spring assisted. But that does not mean it can not open unintentionally. It could open but it’s doubtful that it will. Spring assisted knives are no different than regular manual when it comes to safety. If the thumb stud got caught on something and partially opened the blade, it MAY spring open. The Blur is rock solid and has never even come close to opening up accidentally on me. I have a few of them and many miles traveled with them in my front & back pocket also rattling around a back pack has never jarred it loose. But you must always use caution no matter what folding knife is in your pocket. Anything mechanical can and eventually will fail.
