Hey Ya'll, i've been lurking around these forums for a little while now and decided to register. Well, i've been interested in knives for a long time now and just decided to make a few purchases. I bought a Buck 110 and a victorinox recruit. Now my eye is on the kershaw blur. Can anybody attest to it? Pro's. Con's? Is it a good "EDC"? Will it hold an edge long? Tip strong? Does the edge chip or break? Any info would be nice. Thanks!

I've just started to use mine as an edc. Woops, i posted in the wrong topic lol. I'll let you know how it goes. It is really comfortable i can tell you that. And i owned the first version with the griptape, which i returned when i found out what steel it was and that it was actually griptape. The new ones have better steel and a more rubbery grip. Like i said, it's going to be my new edc, i havent had a dedicated edc since my CRKT m16 or my benchmade ascent.

I an attest that I love all 14 of my Kershaw's, though I don't have the Blur yet. If you get one I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, i don't have much money to spend as i just got an apartment with my girlfriend, but i'm trying to get a little collection together. How well will it hold an edge? I have yet to get a sharpener but i will use it almost everyday. The only other knives i've used were gerber knives.

I just got my hands on an S60V Blur blemish and I couldn't be happier.

It opens quick, locks up solid with no blade play, looks nice, and takes the hair right off my wrist no problem right out of the box.

I would highly recommend one.

Just got my S30v version, looks low profile, fast deployment, good for edc

I'm specifically talking about this one. I can't afford any of those upper class steels right now. Just looking for an EDC to get my started into knife collecting/using with something better than a gerber.

I like the knife, it does have a "kick" when you open it from the assist opener. I have EDC'd it many times and have never had any problems with opening in pocket or anything like that. Overall its a good knife. The knifes edge holding up depends on what you will be cutting. Every once in a while you should sharpen the blade (I have a Spyderco Sharpmaker and it is perfect for sharpening/easy to use).

Can anybody attest to it? I can attest that it is one of my favorite all around EDC's. Its a lot of knife for the money you pay for it. It opens with authority, comes as sharp as any knife I ever bought and stays sharp for a fairly long time for a non-"super" steel knife. It also is very easy to sharpen with the right equipment. Pro's. See above for Pro's. Con's? The only con's I can think of is it maybe a little on the heavy side for it's size but not uncomfortably. Also it is not very lefty friendly but there are not a whole lot of lefty friendly production knives being made by any company. Is it a good "EDC"? In a word yes. It should comfortably handle anything you throw at it. If you use it for its intended purpose (cutting stuff) it will last you a life time with very little (but it will take some) maintenance. Will it hold an edge long? Depends on what you cut with it. If you use it to peel apples yes it will last a looong time, if you are chopping bricks not so long. If you use a Blur for its intended purpose it will do fine. Tip strong? Yes but it's not a screwdriver. Does the edge chip or break? Again right tool for the job no problems. Thanks! Your welcome:D
Hope this helps good luck with your purchase.

Carried a combo edge one for 6 years in 440C the old grip tape ones in red like that. Get the tension screw where you want it then blue loctite it unless they fixed that in the newer ones. Mine spent 5 years with its tension screw missing to no ill effects. Some people call the thumbstud a thumb buster I liked it and it is a good ambidextrous opener. If the Sandvik 13c26 is anything like the 14c26n in the newer knives you’ll be pleased. I’ll second or 3rd getting the S60v version from kershawguy however S60v probably isn’t the best steel to learn to sharpen on but with that stuff it will be awhile before you need to sharpen it. Its still in the EDC rotation but I prefer my wood handled Zing and Benchmade but the Needs Work is growing on me. The best advice is to find one and handle it. If it fits your hands and your style don’t worry about the quality “it’s a Kershaw!” As far as the tip, I used mine in place of a #2 Phillips so much it was criminal and as a pry bar and never broke the tip.
Good Luck

Hunter for $55 it does make a good screw driver not as good as my $20 Snap-on but it works;)

Great Knife - fast opening, holds a great edge, No problems since first started using em. Some complain about the trac inserts eating up the inside of your pants, but I have not had that problem.

(Added 2 more since this pic was taken)

The blur's are great. Kershawguy still has some S60V blurs for sale. There $52 shipped. Your going to pay about that for the knife with shipping for one of the softer steel versions from an online retailer. If you have some sharpening equipment (or a friend who has the sharpening equipment :D) I say pick one of these up while you can!
