Kershaw BOA question

I got another BOA in the mail today and it has a date stamp on the blade of 08 00. Also the safety catch is different than the others and somewhat miscut as it isn't a square cut. The safety has a much longer shelf and is made of aluminum. The biggest thing I noticed is that it says Patent Pending on the blade.

Does anyone know when the first BOA's came to market? This one is a bit rough as there are some grind marks on the blade and it is off center to the clip side quite a bit. I am just curious if this is one of the first ones made.
 
It's an early one (440V marked blade) and e/t looks normal (knife with some wear) except the notch cut in the flipper....that looks like someone tried to cut it off and lost their nerve.
 
I agree it is an early one. The mark is from the blade rubbing on the liner.

I have 7 of these w/ 1 MC. I don't think that someone tried to remove the safety as the shelf on the safety is longer than any of my other knives. It is the same length as the cut made into the blade. The shelf on the safety is a little over 1mm long compared to maybe half that on all of my others.

It is odd.

You are right on the safety.

Looks like a conversation is in order with the person I bought it from.

Also the clip screws are so tight I bent my torx wrench.
 
The one is question is 2nd from the top/right.

The guy said he would take it back if I wanted. What do you guys think? I paid $70 for it.
 
on the clip screws i would check with the seller and see if he used loc-tite on the threads. if so you have to heat them up to get them loose. there are different ways to do it. i usually boil the knife. makes a nice soup! :D
 
i was checking my Boa the other day, and found my flipper has the cut all the way though like your, Jlficken. :)
