Hi all. I'm in the market for a Bowie. The last thing I want a "Frost"-type "Rambo/Dundee" blade; in fact, I really like the SOG S1 and Trident, and am just trying to find something along those lines that's not going to set me back $200+. (Yes, I saw the Trident for sale here for $180.)

I found a "Kershaw Bowie" in a private sale, but haven't been able to find other info online about a Bowie from Kershaw (other than $325+ custom pieces). The one I found is less than $100, so I'm wondering if it's "for real."

Can anyone direct me to a site where I could see some legitimite Kershaw Bowies, so I can tell if the one I'm looking at is for real?

Can you suggest other Bowies I might consider? I've looked at Case, Aitor, Western, Camillus, Randall (hah! :)), Schrade, and a few others. I like the Aitor blade a lot, but it's kinda big. I'd like to stay around 5-7".

Thanks for the link! Ted's stuff is indeed very nice. Unfortunately, I'm looking for something in the 5-7" range, and all his are 10-12". I've sent the site operator mail asking though... You never know!

The Trident is definitely a beautiful knife. If you are looking for a no frills bowie on a budget, check out Ontario's Spec Plus line. Should find a blade style that you like. Bear in mind that these are no where near as pretty as the SOG's. They are basically black epoxy coated 1095 blades with a molded rubber handle. What you do get is a heck of alot of knife for around $50 that you can beat on with little worry about hurting it. I actually think it is about time to pick up another one.

oops! forgot the link if you are interested
