I personally find the older gray boxes with the red opening band much more ergonomic than the current all red boxes. The newer ones wear easily because of the way they have to be opened, anyone feel the same way? Or am I opening my boxes wrong =(.

I'm a collector, so I'm extremely anal about all this stuff :(

Just to clarify I'm not whining or anything, just trying to find common ground and hoping Lynda or Jimmer put forward a request once enough members agree. Its a long shot, I know...but doesn't hurt to try :)

I'm with you on that one! don't know how many red boxes i've ripped because of the way you gotta open them.... Old Kershaw boxes rule!..as well as the current ZT ones

Im the same way, and the older boxes held up a LOT better..... i got a box in the mail for my Ingersol rand Volt II and dude didnt pack it very well, well its desrtroyed and i have no way to fix

I'm with you there. The new boxes don't hold up well at all but I guess it's cheaper to use these boxes since they are generally smaller? More Eco friendly?

Jim and I have very little say in packaging.... but I'll pass your notes on to someone who might. No promises, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

I use Tuf-glide on my red Kershaw boxes, they open and close buttery smooth.

BOXES ?!? really ?!?

Maybe instead of boxes, could KAI use tins?

I think those would be far more collectible, even if they were a few dollars more...

We do use tins on a couple of our more collector knives like Rainbow knives or the 1600BLK. But they're pretty spendy to produce by comparison to a box.

I actually just like the way the old boxes look compared to the new reds. Just my preference! especially with the american flag on it!

I'll admit, I thought this was a joke at first. I guess I can see someone with a huge, unused collection being concerned with the box condition, but to each his own.
