I really like the look off the kershaw Breakout and am really thinking of getting one.....But i always like to learn as much as i can about a knife before i buy it and i know nothing about this one. So if anyone has any info at all on the breakout please share it with me......thanks

3 1/2" blade 4 1/2" closed 14C28N blade, aluminum handles with broken glass pattern, button lock auto design with safety slider. Comes in a handful of colors, partially serrated or P.E., Dlc or stonewash and BB. Tip down only carry left or right. Made in the USA. Discontinued

Its very thin, flies out faster than most auto's I have owned and played with, it is very light also. I sometimes forget it's in my pocket! I love mine to be honest and wish I could find it in a few different colors. I was late to the game and recieved mine in a trade. It is very comfortable in hand and is an excelent slicer with thin hollow ground blade. The blade shape really reminds me of the shallot, sans the recurve. Also very nice pointy tip. I feel like you get alot of blade for the size and the lightness of the whole piece. I can't recommend it enough if you want one. The original pricing on these was rediculous for everything you get.

I just sent in my breakout (long delayed) because when I originally got it the spring broke after a few weeks. I really loved this knife and wanted it to work out, but kershaw quit making autos, and would not service it unless you are mil/leo/emt/fire. I am active mil but after the safety switch failed, and was told they discontinued it and its parts, I took the voucher. It is a super light knife that no joke will fly out of your hand if you are not holding it tight enough. I would reccomend it, but if it breaks you may be SOL :p

Thats the first I ever heard of one having trouble. It seems to be a solid knife from my use.

Thanks for the info helps alot.....ive been wanting a breakout for sometime now but seem hard to find! I came across a unused blem like one in photo i may just buy.....its eithier the breakout or a zt 0700 not sure yet

I didnt know any of that thanks....but one i may pick up is a blem so any service wouldnt really apply anyhow......i would like a new one but the seem very hard to find

Im having some trouble with the safety on mine. Its a thin sucker though dont know how they can fit in the hardware to make it work being so thin

They are hard to find! I personally would get a breakout over a 0700. Reasons: Not only are they hard to find but the fit and finish is so nice. It feels like a higher end knife.so if you found one I'd jump. 0700's are easy to find :)

The Breakout is one of all-time favorite knives! Lightweight, slim profile, great design, fires hard (just about jumps out of your hand), and has held up to lots of abuse. I carry mine daily. If Kershaw made more, I'd definitely buy 10 of them.

They kick hard and weigh nothing. You really have to hold on when you open them. The stonewash on these was nice and aggressive like the 1670BOR and I love that heavy stonewash. The broken glass pattern looks cool. They are slim and a great slicer. The tip is pretty thin. You could break the tip on these if you really abused it. They are excellent light use wonderful knives and if not back someday again as an auto then these would be nice as a slim plunge lock manual. The shape is perfect for slicing fruit and opening envelopes and all of the tasks where a slim slicing blade is best. Anyone that wanted a Skyline but found something lacking would likely love it.
