Would you recommend this knife in the place of RTAK 2 and ESEE Junglas? (( not a paid BF Dealer )) is now selling this for under $30, the temptation is too hard to resist.

It doesn't have as nice of materials as the other two but I will tell you right now it will out chop both the Rtak-2 and the Junglas. For the money, I think you would have a hard time beating the Camp 10 as far as a big chopper. Check out the pass around subforum, they have been passing one around and it is currently in my hands. I am very impressed with it and should be posting my review soon.

There is nothing wrong with the steel, I would guess that it's tougher than most 1095 that you will see because of the lower hardness and carbon content. That's just an educated guess at this point. It's very appropriate for the knife. My reference to the materials was more aimed at the handles, micarta vs rubber and plastic. The blade/edge geometry are great, it is very front heavy, the coating is good and the sheath is better than most in the price range. Buy one!

I heard the steel is equivalent to 1065. Also, you probably don't want to buy three of the same knife without trying it out first.

The Camp 10 is a nice enough knife, but the handle has MASSIVELY over-aggressive texturing to the rubberized grip. The combo of the rubber and the texturing makes it one of the worst blister machines I've ever had the misfortune of handling. If they did it with a smooth handle the ergos are good enough it wouldn't even need rubberizing, but as it is the grip execution kills an otherwise very solid design.

Picked one of these up, and ... it is a big knife! It makes the ZT 0301 look like a keychain knife.

good god no... it's decent on a tight budget, but comparing it to anything by ESEE is just silly... it's not even close. If you want something to replaces a Junglas, get a Swamp Rat 1311...

I am sorry 42 but I have to disagree. I just had mine out last night chopping up some two inch diameter hardwood. I was sucking eggs before my hand had any discomfort. I really like the knife and so much so I bought one for each of my adult sons. For the price I think this knife is a home run.

Meh, that is one terrible review, it really sounds like the grip sucks. I thought about picking up an Outcast for awhile too, glad i passed
